The civil engineering discipline was founded in 2003 and is a basic discipline of Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University. There are 16 full-time teachers in the subject, including 2 senior and 6 associate senior teachers, and 6 of them have doctoral degrees. The civil engineering subject teachers undertake all-foreign language teaching tasks for nearly 400 international civil engineering students in the school. The proportion of dual-qualified teachers is relatively high, and the qualification rate of national first-level registered structural engineer, first-level registered civil engineer, and first-level registered cost engineer is over 50%.
The subject currently has three school-level experimental platforms: "Engineering Materials Laboratory", "Structure and Bridge Engineering Laboratory" and "Soil and Road Laboratory".The experimental equipment can support undergraduate teaching. The existing scientific research instruments and equipment for structural material performance testing, structural analysis and health monitoring, and geotechnical characteristics determination are planned to build an experimental system featuring engineering dynamic performance testing. The subject is equipped with a dedicated reference room, and the annual construction cost of books and materials is 20,000 yuan. The discipline sets three research directions around the national strategic needs of energy conservation and emission reduction, disaster prevention and reduction, safety and environmental protection: 1. Engineering materials and structural behavior research; 2. Environmental geotechnical engineering research; 3. Low-carbon building and engineering management research. In the research fields of urban and new rural low-carbon building design and renovation, contaminated soil treatment and engineering geological disaster prevention, structural health monitoring and reinforcement, and civil engineering high-performance materials have gradually formed academic advantages and characteristics. In recent years, subject teachers have undertaken a number of national, provincial and ministerial research projects, and published high-level papers in many ESI high-cited journals, actively contributing to the school's goal of entering the top 1% of ESI global rankings in the engineering field.
