1. Scientific research
The discipline is mainly devoted to the research in the fields of garden plant resource system classification and development and utilization, germplasm innovation and new variety breeding, physiological ecology and cultivation management, plant landscape and benefit evaluation, and gradually focus on resources and classification, reproduction basis and reproduction ecology,The molecular mechanism of flowering of woody plants and the evaluation of plant landscape benefits have formed obvious characteristics and advantages.During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, the discipline has undertaken more than 50 provincial and ministerial-level projects, including the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Zhejiang Provincial Major Science and Technology Project, and Zhejiang Natural Science Foundation, with scientific research funding of more than 12 million yuan; won 4 provincial-level awards; Published 129 papers and 10 monographs.

Disciplines support the daily teaching and talent training of "Landscape Plants and Ornamental Horticulture", "Landscape Architecture" masters and undergraduates "Landscaping" (national characteristic majors and Zhejiang Province advantage majors), "Landscape Architecture" and "Garden Art Design".More than 1,500 undergraduate graduates and more than 300 master’s degree graduates have been transported to the society.
